Job Summary
Location: Wellingborough
Salary: £19 – £22 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:30pm, Friday: 7:30am – 1:30pm
About The Role
Reporting to the Milling Section Team Leader or Head of Operations, you will be responsible for interpreting engineering drawings and models to create CNC programs. You will input design specifications, adjust machine cutting paths, and carry out quality checks to ensure high standards are maintained throughout production.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and design models
- Use HyperMill software to create and optimise cutting paths
- Apply knowledge of Vericut for simulation and verification
- Input product designs into modelling software and select appropriate cutting tools
- Set and operate CNC machinery (up to 5-axis)
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues during production
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections
- Support the Sales Manager with quotations
- Liaise with customers on new and ongoing projects
- Train and support new staff in CNC programming
- Carry out additional duties as required
Requirements
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment
- Time-served apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
- Strong experience with computer modelling/CAM software
- Skilled in setting and operating up to 5-axis CNC machines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
- Good written and verbal communication
- General PC proficiency
