Enitial (part of the HSL Compliance Group) is a leading UK-based independent field monitoring, sampling, and environmental services company. Acting as the vital "boots on the ground," we help industrial, waste, and water utility companies manage environmental compliance and maintain specialist equipment. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically-minded individual to take ownership of our specialised pump workshop, ensuring precision engineering and quality assurance remain at the heart of our operations.
The Pump Service Engineer is responsible for the complete refurbishment, servicing, testing, and quality assurance of pneumatic landfill and leachate extraction pumps (including AP3, AP4, VP3, VP4, CF3, and CF4 models). This role is primarily workshop-based and requires an individual who takes pride in maintaining immaculate standards of pump rebuilding, rigorous testing, tight stock control, and flawless service documentation. Working collaboratively with our Site Services team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that critical environmental compliance assets are returned to service safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Undertake the full strip-down, technical inspection, chemical acid bath cleaning, component replacement, and high-precision rebuild of pneumatic extraction pumps.
- Analyse and diagnose mechanical faults to identify root causes of pump failures, preventing future recurrence.
- Operate and maintain our simulated well-testing rig to conduct comprehensive operational testing on all refurbished units before formal release.
- Complete accurate service records, quality assurance documentation, and sign-off sheets, keeping detailed assets logged via our internal PumpMan software.
- Keep track of replacement components used during rebuilds, maintain optimum stock levels of service kits, seals, and workshop consumables, and lead monthly stock checks.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and highly organized workshop environment.
- Conduct routine maintenance on workshop tools, compressors, and cleaning systems.
- Assist in designing updated workshop procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- As the department grows, you will help mentor and train future engineering apprentices.
- Work collaboratively with the wider engineering and field-based site service teams, providing occasional support on client sites when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering, assembly, maintenance, or strip-down repair roles (experience specifically with pneumatic pumps, industrial valves, or heavy fluid-handling equipment is highly advantageous).
- An eye for technical detail, ensuring that every seal, fitting, and component meets strict quality standards and that documentation is flawlessly recorded.
- A self-motivated individual who can manage their own workshop layout, schedule workloads efficiently, and keep projects moving on time.
- The practical ability to look at worn components, trace back the cause of mechanical failure, and safely execute a fix.
- Excellent communication skills to report stock shortages, track asset queues with managers, and coordinate with field-based technicians.
