Working closely with the Service Delivery Manager, the Technical Services Engineer will deliver high-quality technical support, site engineering, and guidance to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement. You will play an important role in enabling data-driven decision-making and safe operations by ensuring water hygiene systems are accurate, compliant, and maintained to the highest standards. You will act as a technical authority and escalation point for complex systems, persistent microbiological failures, and non-compliance events. You will support the maintenance of water infrastructure, ensuring asset accuracy, integrity, and safety compliance. This will include conducting routine, reactive, and remedial water hygiene services, developing supplementary control system monitoring regimes, and providing technical coaching to field-based engineers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and oversee planned, reactive, and minor remedial water hygiene services, including temperature monitoring, sentinel outlet checks, TMV servicing, and system disinfections.
  • Support the selection, implementation, commissioning, and ongoing management of supplementary control systems (e.g., chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, and copper-silver ionisation).
  • Complete, review, and support Legionella Risk Assessments across complex systems in line with ACoP L8 and HSG274 guidelines.
  • Lead client meetings and site surveys to develop detailed project scopes, installation plans, and schedules for remote monitoring deployments.
  • Configure monitoring hardware, portals, alerts, and reporting networks while ensuring reliable connectivity and field data accuracy.
  • Carry out reactive plumbing rectifications, including thermostat adjustments, dead leg removal, and the replacement of valves, taps, and TMVs.
  • Deliver on-the-job training, technical coaching, and competency assessments to field-based Water Hygiene Engineers to close internal skills gaps.
  • Work closely with Data Analysts to interpret microbiological, chemical residual, and performance trend data to diagnose system issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Support data audits and site quality inspections to ensure high levels of technical governance and standardisation across contracts.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience delivering on-site water hygiene services and supporting Legionella Risk Assessments.
  • Strong experience as a key user or authority on supplementary control and disinfection hardware.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of ACoP L8, HSG274, and HTM 04-01 healthcare water systems are essential.
  • Experience with project planning, portal configuration, and remote monitoring installation is highly desirable.
  • Relevant Legionella Control, Risk Assessment, or TMV Testing certifications (e.g., City & Guilds / equivalent).
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or Mechanical Services alongside an IOSH safety certification is preferred.
