Location: Field-Based, company van supplied

RJ Urmson Group (proudly part of the HSL Compliance Group) provides a comprehensive, "one-stop" engineering service spanning water treatment, critical ventilation, HVAC, commissioning, and building services. In this essential field role, you will be our technical specialist on site, ensuring closed-loop heating, chilled water, and domestic systems are fully cleaned, flushed, and chemically compliant across high-profile commercial and public sector facilities.

Working as part of our mobile engineering team, you will deliver pre-commission cleaning, system flushing, chemical dosing, and disinfection works across a wide range of sites. You will ensure all closed heating and chilled water systems strictly adhere to BSRIA BG29 and BG50 guidelines, alongside carrying out domestic chlorinations under ACOP L8 and HSG274. While extensive experience across all advanced criteria is ideal, core practical expertise in flushing, chemical dosing, and chlorination is the main priority.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform pre-commission cleaning and dynamic system flushing of closed-loop heating and chilled water networks in strict accordance with BSRIA BG29 and BG50 guidelines.
  • Undertake specialist chemical cleaning, including acid descaling of plant, boilers, heat exchangers, and pipework.
  • Carry out mains disinfections and chlorinations of domestic water systems in line with ACOP L8 and HSG274 standards.
  • Conduct on-site chemical testing, water sampling, and dosing application, maintaining closed-system monitoring regimes aligned with BS8552.
  • Accurately complete all digital site reports, flushing certificates, test logs, and compliance records in a timely manner.
  • Interpret technical drawings/schematics, liaise with site managers and contractors to coordinate access, and communicate project progress clearly.
  • Maintain strict compliance with site health and safety guidelines and COSHH regulations. Identify system faults, recommend remedial actions, and escalate issues when needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in pre-commission cleaning, system flushing, and chlorinations (Required). 2+ years in broader water treatment preferred.
  • Working knowledge or familiarity with BSRIA BG29, BG50, BS8552, HSG274, and ACOP L8.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics on site.
  • Willingness to travel regionally, work flexible hours when required, and operate comfortably both independently and as part of a mobile team.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
  • Valid CSCS Card (Essential)
  • Ability to pass standard site security clearances / DBS checks where required.
