HSE Recruitment Network are working with a global manufacturing business who are looking for a Human Factors and Safety Culture Lead at their site in Somerset. This is the opportunity to be part of a one of a kind project in the UK, a project which will play a pivotal role in advancing clean technology and sustainable energy. You’ll shape and deliver a site-wide Human Factors Strategy that influences how people, technology, and process come together safely and efficiently. Working alongside process safety and occupational safety specialists, you’ll have the scope to build something exceptional — embedding human performance principles into the heart of operations. You’ll be advising senior leaders, collaborating with regulators, and steering key design and operational decisions that affect the safety of people and plant.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and rollout of the site-wide Human Factors Strategy
- Partner with management teams and HSE specialists to embed human performance principles across the business
- Integrate Human Factors thinking into equipment design, safety systems, and COMAH safety reports
- Conduct task analyses, human error assessments, and user trials to inform design and process optimisation
- Provide expert input into incident investigations, offering insights into human performance and organisational factors
What we are looking for:
- Degree or MSc in Human Factors, Ergonomics, or Organisational Psychology (or equivalent)
- Proven expertise in key Human Factors topics: workload, fatigue, human error, competence management, and design integration
- Experience working in highly regulated or COMAH environments
- Exceptional communication and analytical skills, with a knack for translating complexity into clear recommendations
