Location: Single site based in East London, E3

Seeking a hands on, dynamic and people centric professional to provide Safety, Health and Environmental support across a busy manufacturing site. This position is perfect for an established Safety Health and Safety Coordinator (SHE Officer or SHE Advisor), who wants to positively and proactively influence cultural maturity and have exposure to a wide variety of projects within a large and well-established organisation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Seeking an experienced SHE professional to report to the SHE Manager, to support a high risk, complex and large scale, 24/7 manufacturing site.
  • This would suit a people centric individual who is a clear communicator and who can provide authentic buy in and engage the workforce.
  • To develop and maintain the Safety, Health and Environment systems and site SHE plans to ensure adherence to legislation and group standards.
  • To ensure all sites risk assessments and safe systems of work are completed to a high standard, rolled out and sufficiently embedded.
  • Establish trusted relationships with the community and external stakeholders.
  • Support incident investigations & reporting as required helping to provide root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support the recording and successful management of all emergency evacuation exercises, ensuring procedures are followed and practiced.
  • Deliver SHE related training across the site.
  • Support a permitted site, to ensure correct operation and data recorded of effluent treatment plants, data and environmental aspects and impacts with the engineering and operational teams.
  • Projects include evolving culture and behaviours to encourage the workforce to be confident and empowered to take ownership and accountability for SHE as well as developing workplace transport procedures and strengthening their approach to manual handling and slips, trips and falls.
  • To be approachable and visible across the site not afraid to walk round and build authentic relationships.
  • To encourage and embed the ethos that safety is for everyone, to inspire the workforce to take accountability and enable them to become part of the SHE journey.
  • A curious professional, able to collect accurate data, provide light data analysis and able to highlight trends across the sites.

Essential Qualifications and Background

  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • From a manufacturing background, experience of high-risk factors within a fast-paced environment such as agricultural, baked goods, dairy, chemical, forestry, farming, packaging, food, ingredients, beverage, paper, textiles, building materials, plastic or rubber production.
