Location: Dudley, West Midlands
Seeking a proactive and positive HSE coordinator to support the Dudley site with day-to-day site management of Health, Safety and Environment. This will be a hands-on position, where you will engage with the workforce and influence change. You will work closely with different departments and the senior leadership team to help evolve their safety culture to a more proactive state. Additionally, there will be a focus on helping the business to become Net Zero by 2030.
This opportunity would suit a confident safety professional who is able to work independently with guidance. This position will be well supported and coached by external consultancy, as well as the wider senior leadership team and M.D.
Vacancy Overview:
- Provide a high level and clear awareness of Health and Safety legislation throughout the business and advise employees and managers accordingly.
- Ensure the business remains compliant with legislation and changes within legislation.
- Implement and maintain Health and Safety systems such as Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Develop ‘in-house training’ programs for all job roles across the Shopfloor and recognise the need for new programs to be implemented.
- Ensure all Health and Safety training across the business is maintained and up to date.
- Organise for any external training to be provided to employees where required.
- Ensure the control and compliance of all contractor competency-based services provided to the business.
- Responsible for the continuous attainment of ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015.
- Responsible for overseeing the company's carbon net zero programme.
- Represent the company to external auditors, legal bodies, suppliers and customers.
- Lead on internal audits, management reviews and updating and circulating any required corrective action plans.
- Primary responsibility for overall Health and Safety onsite across all activities whilst coaching managerial and supervisory staff to ensure the knowledge and understanding of their responsibilities.
- Assist in the implementation and management of the environmental and health and safety management systems across both premises.
- Support the onboarding of new employees through an HSE Induction.
- Work alongside all employees to promote a positive health and safety culture.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses are correctly reported and investigated.
- Involvement with the company's disciplinary procedure following any Health and Safety breaches.
Essential background, experience, and qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Health and Safety
- Between 1-3 years Health and Safety experience
- Prior manufacturing background
- Strong trainer and coach
