Due to recent and significant upcoming investment, we are seeking a strong Health, Safety and Environment professional to sit within the senior leadership team, drive safety excellence and manage 3 direct reports. Reporting directly to the Head of HSE with a dotted line to the Site Plant Manager.
Main responsibilities:- Be the expert on site, able to deal with complex situations and take ownership of outcomes and deliverables both in role and as a leader.
- Facilitate change and be involved in interesting and diverse projects which will improve safety and behaviours at the site, therefore having to deal with technical complexity.
- Play a key role in upcoming strategic project and the significant investment project programme at site.
- Support the implementation of company Health Safety and Environment (HSE) policy and embedding ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
- Engage, communicate and be proactive and visible on the shop floor to support the site improvements in Health, Safety and Environment, behaviours, and culture.
- Development and implementation of procedures to ensure legal compliance is achieved and maintained in both operations and projects, with heavy involvement with strategy change and growth projects.
- Build capabilities through coaching and engagement to drive positive safety culture at all levels on site.
- Ensure that Health and Safety performance indicators and compliance data are tracked with expectations understood and annual strategic plans developed to drive continuous improvement and cultural change while maintaining legal compliance.
- Determine and prioritise site key loss opportunities, manage HSE and facilities budget and annual capital allocation.
- Be an initiative-taking, energetic, and influencing member of the leadership team dealing with complex situations as site expert and in a leadership role.
- Liaise and manage outsourced services (waste management companies, PPE providers etc.), regulatory bodies, customers and auditors in respect of management of Safety and Environment.
- Work proactively with both internal and external project managers and contractors.
- Be a key member of the site leadership team and regional HSE Team in the UK.
- Work and support the HR & Training Function and EHW Manager with any occupational health issues.
- Maintain daily contact with operational colleagues.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong manufacturing experience β food, drink, dairy, paper, packaging, bakery, tobacco industry preferred.
- Proven management experience and able to coach and mentor others.
- Positive and engaging communicator.
- Proactive, pragmatic and confident.
