The Electrical Engineering Lead leads and represents the electrical discipline across HSCALE’s EMEA data centre development programme. The role is accountable for electrical design strategy, standards, and technical assurance, with a focus on lean, scalable, and high capacity power architectures suited to next generation data centres. Based in Design and Engineering, the role is the electrical authority within the Engineering Centre of Excellence and the primary interface to external electrical consultants and internal stakeholders.

Your Role

  • Define, own, and govern HSCALE electrical design standards, reference architectures, and engineering processes.
  • Lead electrical system architecture and key technical decisions across all projects.
  • Own electrical inputs to the Basis of Design and ensure consistency across projects and phases.
  • Drive lean and scalable electrical designs that maximise usable power capacity and minimise trapped capacity.
  • Optimise designs for total cost of ownership, balancing CAPEX, OPEX, resilience, and operational flexibility.
  • Lead development of next generation power distribution systems suitable for high density and AI driven workloads.
  • Provide hands on technical leadership for schematic design, specifications, and design reviews.
  • Manage and technically assure external electrical designers and specialist consultants.
  • Act as the electrical single point of accountability across Development, Design Management, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations.
  • Support procurement, commissioning, and transition to operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and standard refinement.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered or Professional Engineer status preferred.
  • 12 to 18 years of experience in mission critical or data centre electrical engineering.
  • Deep hands on expertise in critical power systems, distribution, protection, and utility interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for high density and AI enabled data centres.
  • Strong understanding of power efficiency, capacity utilisation, and lifecycle cost optimisation.
  • Experience delivering projects across EMEA regulatory and utility environments.
  • Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor with programme level accountability.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% across EMEA.
