Members of the team gain both breadth and depth of experience, with exposure to the end-to-end process of disclosure preparation and resolution of technical accounting and reporting issues in different disclosure areas. As part of this, team members work collaboratively with other Group teams e.g. Regulatory Reporting, Product Control, Investor Relations, Tax and Accounting Policy, and regional financial reporting teams. Team members also support optimisation and automation of our financial reporting processes, which is of particular focus for the coming years.

In this role, you will:

  2. Deliver the external financial statements of the HSBC Group within strict deadlines.
  3. Implement the necessary control environment to provide assurance over consolidated financial information included in external publications (including analytical review and other appropriate procedures).
  4. Business partnering with subject matter experts in risk and other finance functions.
  5. Interpret and communicate complex financial concepts to senior stakeholders.
  6. Understand the implications of various financial transactions on the financial statements.
  7. Identify and deliver automation and process optimisation opportunities.
  8. Be required to act as deputy FR Lead as and when required, deal with senior stakeholders and work within tight timelines.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  1. Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  2. Demonstrable financial reporting experience within a large financial services institution, preferably a bank, in a Group capacity.
  3. Fundamental understanding of the external disclosure requirements for a large bank.
  4. Consolidation knowledge and experience.
  5. Demonstrable experience of IFRSs and awareness of other relevant regulatory and best practice reporting issues.
  6. Business partnering and consolidation experience within a finance function.
  7. Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers, policy and narrative to life (e.g., presenting to a wide range of stakeholders/senior management).
  8. Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
