As the Legal Counsel you will report into Senior Legal Counsel, Group Employment, Benefits and Incentives Legal, and will be based out of London, UK.
In this role, you will:
- Manage (as accountable lawyer) a UK-based caseload, and support lawyers in EBI and other parts of the business within and outside UK on more complex matters or multijurisdictional projects.
- Advise Management on proposed courses of action in order to manage legal, financial and reputational risks.
- Provide commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical guidance and support to relevant businesses in a cost-effective manner.
- Evaluate and respond to changes in legal and regulatory requirements as they arise.
- Apply learnings from cases and available data to recommend enhancements and improvements to processes and policies and partnering with HR to drive necessary change.
- Prepare and deliver briefings to stakeholders on major issues arising in relevant business areas and major legislative changes in area of expertise.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- UK qualified employment lawyer with good post-qualification experience of practicing in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law in the UK.
- Experience of working with financial services clients, with a keen interest in the industry and curiosity to learn more about the multijurisdictional and regulatory environment is a pre-requisite.
- Be a proactive self-starter, able to follow through on delivery with appropriate support.
- Ability to prioritise effectively, often against the backdrop of changing facts and stakeholder demands.
- Clear communication and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to exercise judgment, confidently advise stakeholders and be developing influencing skills.
- Developing lateral thinking/problem solving skills and be able to work independently.
- Willingness to be a flexible team player across the EBI Legal and the Legal Function.
The base location for this role is London with a hybrid working pattern.
