We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of XVA Valuations Controller.
Role responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the governance and controls of Fair Value are adhered to through Review and Oversight of all Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Independent Price Verification (IPV) and Prudent Valuation Adjustment (PVA) within XVA business
- Lead and Participate in Valuations methodology, including global alignment and enhancements of processes and methodologies and keep abreast of industry information around XVA
- Key contact point for the XVA Trading team and other key stakeholders (including other Front Office, Traded Risk, Operations, IT and other Finance teams)
- Drive the implementation of FVAs, IPV and PVA changes, engage the business on all matters regarding valuations and be a key contact for internal and external audit
- Drive engagement with other asset class valuation teams to increase consistency, quality and efficiency of related controls and processes
- Promote continuous improvement for all activities including increasing efficiency and controls through procedures/systems change process and leadership within PC transformation for your area
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of assurance, internal and external audit points
- Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the areas under management; specifically, Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy
- Ensure full compliance with the Global Markets FIM
Skills and experience:
- Graduate degree, with experience of at least 8 years in Product Control or Valuations
- Demonstrable experience of Product Control and knowledge of Credit, Interest Rate products and/or XVA products, accounting, valuations, controls, systems, models and markets
- Good understanding and appreciation of Regulatory requirements and guidelines for Valuation
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to articulate key valuation issues to Senior Stakeholders in a non-technical manner
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Highly adaptive controls mind-set
- Experience of leading projects to delivery
- Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders (at all levels of seniority)
- Experience of developing methodology and shaping policy for IPV / FVAs is a distinct advantage
- Experience of managing a team, especially across multiple locations, is an advantage
- Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent) is an advantage
