HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiter within the Power & Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Shipping & Energy and Aerospace sectors. We have a number of permanent and contract vacancies for multiple businesses across the UK and overseas.

Typically, this person will need to be ready to take on a wide range of responsibilities from diagnosing technical issues and upgrading older vessels, to handling breakdown repairs and routine maintenance for marine leisure and commercial boats, as well as working on the mechanical systems of generators.

Duties and responsibilities of the Marine Engineer:

  • Inboard & outboard engines
  • Engine controls & electrical systems
  • Gearboxes, stern drives, IPS & stern gear
  • Generators, pumps, fuel tanks & systems
  • Thrusters, hydraulics, lifting & stropping
  • Sea trials and diagnostics
  • Manage your own workload efficiently
  • Complete timesheets and maintain service records (often online)
  • Use electronic parts catalogues to identify and order parts
  • Liaise directly with customers, providing updates and top-level service
  • Respond to enquiries with professionalism and technical expertise

Qualifications and requirements for the Marine Engineer:

  • Marine Engineering Qualification desirable
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic IT Skills
  • A commitment to high standards and customer satisfaction
  • A "go the extra mile" attitude to keep customers returning

Desirable but not necessary:

  • Forklift licence
  • Manual handling
