We have a number of permanent and contract vacancies for multiple businesses across the UK and overseas. The below job description will outline this position of: Workshop Manager Typically, this person will oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, coordinating with the Service Manager and service team to manage all aspects of workshop repairs and personnel, including fitters, apprentices, and stores staff. HSB Technical’s client is a very established and well-regarded business entity. Duties and responsibilities of the Workshop Manager: Oversee daily workshop activities, assigning tasks to ensure repair work stays on schedule and within budget. Communicate any time variations during repairs promptly, either in daily meetings or as they arise. During busy periods, ensure appropriate supervision for repairs and work overtime as required, including up to three 12-hour weekday shifts and one 8-hour weekend shift. Collaborate with the Project team to plan manpower, spare parts, materials, subcontractor requirements, tooling, and delivery logistics. Supporting the engineering team by working “on the tools” as needed, with a strong emphasis on mentoring and coaching to build skills and ensure continuous development throughout each project. Supervise the Store Person, ensuring all tooling sent for service is returned in working order. Maintain minimum stock levels for consumables (e.g., Loctite, thread bars, nuts, bolts). Qualifications and requirement for the Workshop Manager: This role is ideally suited for someone with a marine background, but candidates with experience in heavy engineering fields such as rotating equipment, cranes, or similar industries will also be strongly considered.
