The below job description outlines the position of Marine Superintendent. Typically, this role will involve acting as the owners on-site technical representative, overseeing multiple Service Operation Vessel (SOV) new build projects across several shipyards. The successful candidate will coordinate inspection disciplines, monitor build progress, ensure full regulatory compliance, and provide clear, structured technical reporting to the owners project leadership team.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Marine Superintendent:
- Act as the technical focal point on-site, ensuring vessels are constructed, outfitted and delivered in line with contract specifications, Class (DNV), SOLAS, IMO, UK Flag and EU regulatory requirements.
- Lead and coordinate a small multi-disciplinary inspection team, including steel, electrical/electronic, paint and outfitting disciplines.
- Produce and compile weekly and monthly technical progress reports for the owner, incorporating inspection feedback and yard performance.
- Review, manage and control drawing approvals and revisions, ensuring all modifications are approved by Class, yard and owner and correctly recorded.
- Oversee the creation, verification and handover of accurate as-built documentation, including construction, electrical and system drawings, certificates and OEM manuals.
- Monitor installation, alignment and commissioning of key machinery and deck equipment, including generators, thrusters, energy storage systems, W2W gangways and heave-compensated cranes.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for major equipment and systems as required by the owner.
- Carry out ongoing inspections of tanks, voids, coatings and general build quality throughout all stages of construction.
- Ensure full compliance with DP2 design and operational requirements, eliminating single-point failures in line with Class rules and IMCA guidance.
- Support and integrate the vessels Chief Engineer and ETO during the build phase, including oversight of Planned Maintenance System (PMS) population.
- Maintain open communication with yard management, escalating risks, quality concerns or programme issues where necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements for the Marine Superintendent:
- Chief Engineer (Unlimited Class 1 CoC) or Mechanical Engineering background preferred but not essential.
- Proven experience as a New Build Superintendent / Project Engineer on Offshore Support Vessel or SOV new build projects.
- Strong working knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, DNV, UK Flag and offshore construction standards.
- In-depth understanding of shipboard systems, machinery, DP2 systems, hybrid propulsion and offshore equipment.
- Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems and vessel documentation handover.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; Microsoft Teams experience desirable.
- Previous experience within shipyard environments essential.
- Experience on renewables-focused SOV new builds advantageous but not mandatory.
This role will require travel at least once a month.
