The predicted salary is between 59268 - 69727 £ per year.
Base salary: £59,268pa to c.£69,727pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top of base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits.

About the role:
As Senior Station Systems Engineer you will provide technical and professional support to the Station Systems and Building Services Engineering teams, supporting the development of standards and technical requirements for the discipline. You will provide assurance that design and construction of station system assets meet project requirements and work to resolve issues where appropriate. The successful candidate shall provide technical guidance and support for station systems, including but not limited to the following:
- Public Address and Voice Alarm
- Customer Information systems and Signage
- Providing Technical management and guidance during the development of the station systems by the suppliers and ensure these are implemented in the stations in accordance with project requirements.
- Working with the station contractors and suppliers to develop the station systems providing the most appropriate solution for HS2.
- Identifying and managing technical risk in the discipline area across the programme.
- Providing support to Engineering Design Management of design and re-design through construction where required.
- Initiating and supporting value management/engineering initiatives.
- Providing input to the contract documentation for procurement and control of the construction works.

- Communicating technical and other information effectively with others at all levels including both internal and external and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Able to provide specialist technical support on discipline-specific technical and engineering principles to project development/delivery teams but knowing when to seek further guidance from Subject Matter Expert or others.
- Ability to read and understand technical plans and drawings.
- Able to provide technical, commercial management and leadership skills to support project development/delivery teams, working under supervision of line manager (or delegate).
- Promoting quality and contributing to best practice method of continuous improvement and Innovation.
- Applying technical standards as appropriate.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of appropriate technical or engineering principles for station communications systems across a range of building types.
- Able to review and select appropriate techniques, procedures and methods to undertake tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate business benefit through improved process and use of data.
- Capturing business requirements and translating into data and system solutions.
Type of experience:
- Understanding of system engineering on major projects specifically in the Railway industry.
- Understanding of security and data networks, and Cyber Security.
- Experience of working with System Architecture diagrams and able to make technical changes in line with a fully integrated design.
- Onsite assurance and accepting of station systems delivered by Station Contractors.
- Knowledge of British and European Standards such as BS 5839, BS 7671 but not limited to these.
- Experience of answering queries from the contractor and mediate when required.
- Able to communicate discipline-specific technical ideas to colleagues, based largely on examples of application.
- Able to evidence application of many principles relating to standards, safety and the environment and able to articulate the rest.
- Able to apply principles and methods that ensure effective information management, modelling and data security; understands the approaches and consequences to data creation, transformation and visualisation and knowing when to seek guidance from other Subject Matter Experts.
