Salary London: “Base salary: £26,871pa to c£31,613pa depending on skills and experience

As an Environmental Coordinator at HS2 you will be responsible for providing support to High Speed 2 (HS2) SCS Integrated Project Team (IPT) in the assurance of the design and construction of the IPT scope of works. The role is to provide assurance of compliance with the environmental requirements, commitments, law and regulations. This role is also responsible for providing guidance on environmental design solutions and ensuring environmental issues and constraints are key considerations in project design.
About the role:
- To be responsible for supporting the SEM/EM in organising, coordinating, and undertaking the environment element of the HS2 risk based technical assurance of the works performed and assured by the IPT.
- To be accountable for supporting the Senior Environment Manager with internal and external reporting of environmental matters.
- To be responsible for the timely assurance and acceptance of contractors reporting.
- To be responsible supporting the SEM in tracking, and coordinating timely and accurate communications through the contract.
- To assist the development and progression of the environmental innovations identified by the contractors.
- To undertake desk based and onsite environmental assurance and surveillance activities, and to assist in the co-ordination and reporting of assurance findings.
- To deputise for the Environment Manager, as required.

Skills
- Complex problem solving – ability to identify complex problems. Review, analyse and interpret a wide range of data and evaluate options and implement solutions to be consistent with other working
- Decision Making - Ability to gather and synthesise information, identify options and apply judgement based on logic and reason and make use of a variety of analytical approaches to provide relevant information to suppliers, stakeholders and decision makers using key facts and data.
- Communication - Ability to communicate many discipline-specific technical ideas to colleagues, based on a mix of training and examples of application.
- Data management - Applies principles and methods that ensure effective information management, modelling and data security, basic understanding of data creation and visualisation, working under supervision of line manager or in liaison with relevant Subject Matter Expert
Knowledge
- Knowledge of environmental law and how it relates to infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of the Regulatory/Legislative Framework relevant to HS2
Experience:
- Experience of working to deadlines and communicating information in clear and concise fashion.
