The predicted salary is between 32050 - 37700 £ per year.

Base salary: £32,050 pa to £37,700 pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top of the base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits.

As an Assistant Investigator at HS2, you will be responsible for managing an allocated caseload of both reactive and proactive non-complex alerts/investigations. Your duties will include:

  • Working a caseload of alerts from various proactive fraud identification systems to determine the causation of the alert, minimising further loss and seeking recovery where possible.
  • Updating and entering all investigative actions and recommendations to third party systems/case management tracker.
  • Managing in a timely manner an allocated caseload of investigations relating to alleged unethical behaviour.
  • Supporting the Counter Fraud and Business Ethics Team on complex cases under investigation, undertaking fraud risk assessments and creating and delivering fraud risk awareness sessions.
  • Collaborating with other investigatory, compliance, audit and law enforcement bodies, both internally and externally.
  • Collating and producing reports highlighting the CBFE team’s performance for internal and external use.
  • Actively promoting and embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and supporting and complying with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively at different levels and provide concise and professional advice.
  • Ability to conduct compliance/ethics or fraud investigations.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate information gathered during investigations, drawing conclusions and providing recommendations.
  • Ability to manage conflicts and conduct difficult discussions/interviews.
  • Analytical skills and ability to undertake multiple investigations contemporaneously.
  • Ability to produce and present information to a variety of stakeholders.

Knowledge:

  • Professional accreditation in investigations discipline e.g. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Counter Fraud Investigator Apprenticeship (level 4), Professional Investigations Programme - Level 2 (PIP), Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS – Expert), Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice (APCIP), Professionalism in Security Management (PINS).

Type of experience:

  • Post qualification experience of working in an investigation environment.
  • Experience conducting interviews of both suspect and witness, as well as taking statements.
  • Experience of investigation report writing resulting from internal HR investigations/criminal investigations, and the identification of lessons learned and recommendations.
