HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity
Plant Site Support Officer
Location
Based in Birmingham – the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Role Responsibilities
- Financial administration & cost control: Carry out administrative processes to a high standard with strong attention to detail, supporting effective cost control across plant and labour activities.
- Plant systems, reporting & meetings: Input GRNs, plant timesheets, and on/off hires into R12, ensure all documentation is authorized, produce weekly and monthly plant reports, and lead plant meetings with project delivery teams.
- Invoice & accrual management: Match invoices to relevant accruals when required (including Straight Through Processing failures), and manage, record, and resolve invoice queries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Labour hours & payroll administration: Process and administer direct labour hours for payroll and internal reporting, ensuring reconciliation with TIPS data, accurate allocation, and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
- Collaboration, reporting & support: Work closely with the finance team to support overall project delivery, produce plant and labour cost reports for stakeholders, and undertake ad hoc duties as required.
- Knowledge of accounting routines is essential
- Construction/construction related accounting experience is desirable
- Good attention to detail, a disciplined and organised approach to work and the ability to handle and work with complex data is required along with good communication skills
- Good Microsoft office skills, particularly Excel. Experience of Oracle is desirable
