Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Current Opportunity: Mechanical Building Services Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Description: Coordinate the design and engineering activities on the Pumping Stations and Portal Buildings. Assist and support the Design Manager to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the design.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical review of the designer and suppliers/subcontractors design and issue comments review sheets
- Ensure the safety in design is properly implemented
- Coordinate the internal inter-disciplinary review and ensure integration of the design
- Coordinate the suppliers/subcontractors detailed design with the designer to achieve the completion of detailed design in a timely manner and in accordance with the technical assurance process
- Manage and follow the review and approval of the design by the various parties (Employer, Designer, CAT checker, other divisions within BBV, Subcontractors/Suppliers)
- Ensure the compliance of the design works with the project requirements
- Involve in Operation & Maintenance Review, Interface, PRAM and HAZOP meetings and implement the design actions resulting from these meetings
Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree level or equivalent, ideally in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical and with professional chartership
- At least 10-year experience in the construction industry
- Over 5-year experience in delivering multi-discipline projects
- A recognized leader in engineering with experience of at least one project comparable in size and in complexity
- Experience and confidence to constructively challenge to optimise design solutions which balance project requirements, risks and constraints
- Experience in railway transport systems engineering is recommended
