Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build the 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 — Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us — we’re at peak construction with work ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. You’d join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Deputy Plant and Logistics Manager. This role will be based on site in Birmingham City Centre. The role will provide operational management, guidance and control of a multi-disciplinary team comprising engineering and supervisory resources at all levels and facilitation of strong links with other teams within and external to the project.
Our prominent Birmingham city centre site, Sublot 4, covers a 4.5km stretch, bringing HS2 trains into the new Curzon Street station. The site is responsible for three sections of HS2: Curzon Street Station, the Saltley area and Washwood Heath. The work involves the construction of viaducts, underbridges, overbridges, river diversions and retaining structures.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support logistics and plant teams.
- Oversee operational demands, plant mobilisation, and supply chain coordination.
- Monitor KPIs, drive cost control, and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
- Manage budgets, quality assurance, and productivity improvements.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in earthworks and major projects.
- SMSTS qualified, CSCS Card, and driving licence.
- Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and project programmes.
- Knowledge of HSE legislation and contract management.

Working together for over 30 years, Balfour Beatty VINCI has delivered significant infrastructure and developed unrivalled expertise across rail, highways and aviation sectors in the UK and beyond. Our work on HS2 includes a 90km section from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.
Overall, we will be building the following across all sites:
- 42 viaducts totalling over 11km
- More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km
- 66 embankments reaching over 33km
- Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
