Current Opportunity: Health, Safety & Wellbeing Assurance Advisor – HS&W

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Location: Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Support the Sublot H&S Manager.
  • Provide advice and support on all health and safety related issues to colleagues on site.
  • Advise on project compliance with the BBV health and safety management system and relevant UK legislation such as CDM, Work at Height, etc.
  • Attend site daily to positively engage with colleagues and supply chain regarding health and safety matters.
  • Facilitate and be the point of contact for all internal and external H&S assurances.
  • Ensure actions from assurances are closed and embedded into relevant safe systems of work.
  • Plan and coordinate Assurance activities.
  • Support project and construction colleagues to deliver safety briefings and safety presentations.
  • Review safe systems of work such as Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure findings from assurances and incidents are embedded.
  • Participate in regular reviews and updates of the Project Health & Safety Management System, including but not limited to the Construction Phase Plan, Plant and Vehicle Management Plan, Emergency Plan and other necessary documents.
  • Provide support and advice to accident and incident investigations and update the HS2 reporting database.
  • Work closely with the H&S Admin team to provide required information.
  • Have previous experience in Construction Health and Safety, ideally including major construction projects with similar themes to HS2.
  • Have a driving licence.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK to be considered.
