Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Current Opportunity: Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the Sublot H&S Manager and provide day‑to‑day health and safety guidance across the site.
- Advise on compliance with the BBV H&S management system and relevant UK legislation (e.g., CDM, Work at Height).
- Carry out regular site inspections, review RAMS, and support investigations by updating the HS2 reporting database.
- Deliver and produce safety communications, briefings, presentations, toolbox talks, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers—including Traffic Management, Community Engagement, Facilities, and Procurement to resolve issues and evaluate supplier H&S standards.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in Construction Health and Safety, ideally including major construction projects with similar themes to HS2.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Membership of IOSH – Tech IOSH.
- Experience of working on railway infrastructure (due to the Sublot undertaking works on Network Rail infrastructure alongside HS2).
