HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Current Opportunity: Civil Engineering Apprentice - Level 6
Location: Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support graduates and site engineers by assisting with major engineering control activities and carrying out basic engineering tasks as instructed.
- Conduct checks on survey equipment, provide operatives with accurate information from drawings, schedules, and specifications, and complete required quality checks.
- Maintain thorough and accurate site records, including diaries, photographs, and documented discussions.
- Contribute to safety and compliance through issuing permits, attending safety inspections, identifying hazards, and raising Unsafe Condition Notices.
- Take part in the apprenticeship development programme, including giving occasional briefings and progressing toward the apprenticeship standard.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be confident in dealing with people at all levels. Work experience and construction industry awareness is desirable. Full UK Driving License Required. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK to be considered.
