Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Location

Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S.

More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region.

This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel.

It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

  • Coordinate BIM activities across Architectural, Structural, Civil, and MEP disciplines.
  • Manage and facilitate model coordination meetings, workshops, and BIM co-ordination processes.
  • Federate, review, and maintain the Project Information Model (PIM); close out clash reports and review comments.
  • Conduct validation checks on design models for information compliance and agreed Level of Detail.
  • Perform model reviews and clash detection using Navisworks; manage and track coordination actions.
  • Support BIM Managers in implementing BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), standards, and workflows.
  • Lead integration of supply chain information (survey data, fabrication details, construction sequencing) into the BIM environment.
  • Manage 4D construction simulation models to support planning, weekly work plans, and daily task meetings.
  • Ensure model information supports setting-out works; liaise with surveying and site engineering teams.
  • Support information exchange between internal and external project teams; contribute to digital delivery initiatives.
  • Report BIM progress at Design Team, Contract Review, and Progress Meetings.
  • Assist in developing and improving BIM workflows, templates, and best practices.
  • Conduct training and workshops; support implementation of BIM software across the project.
  • Make arrangements for final as-built model deliverables, including data files.
  • Perform Stage 5 modelling (replacing elements with manufacturer items) on an occasional basis.

The following qualities/experience are essential

  • Autodesk BIM Expertise (High Priority)
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit; practical experience in model creation (mandatory), modification, and coordination.
  • Advanced proficiency in Navisworks Manage for model federation, clash detection, coordination workflows, issue management, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of BIM coordination processes, model management, and multidisciplinary model review.
  • Technical Coordination
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary BIM models across design and construction workflows.
  • Ability to identify and resolve coordination issues proactively; manage model interfaces between disciplines.
  • Understanding of BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 information management principles.
  • MEP Knowledge
  • Good understanding of MEP systems, coordination principles, and common challenges within complex infrastructure or building projects.
  • Ability to review and coordinate MEP models alongside structural and architectural disciplines.
  • General Skills & Behaviours
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; proactive problem solver with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of UK BIM standards, BIM Level 2 requirements, ISO 19650, and CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Drive for continuous improvement; rigour in application of information management standards.
  • Experience coaching and developing team members including apprentices and graduates.
