HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Location
Based in Birmingham – the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5‑mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Control Manager in the production and delivery of the Performance Measurement Baseline and Performance Measurement Updates
  • Capture and integrate current and forecast programme, budget, cost, and risk at asset and sub‑asset level
  • Promote best practice and innovation
  • Ensure that appropriate lean, coordinated and visual performance metrics are set up to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve performance
  • Support Delivery with the establishment of planned and actual Resource diagrams in P6
  • Support the Project Control Manager in the development and analysis of EVM measures
  • Effectively use IT and systems as a key enabler for gathering and timely and accurate reporting on project performance
  • Live the BBV values

Qualifications

  • 2‑3 years experience in planning & project control services within large complex environments within the construction and engineering industry
  • Understanding of various methods of project controls, planning and performance reporting
  • Experience in risk and opportunity management, considered as a plus
  • Understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate delay or change entitlement
  • Good understanding of the methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements
  • Good software skills using P6, Microsoft Excel and Power Bi is mandatory
  • Good knowledge of Synchro 4D is a plus
  • Pro‑active attitude, positive thinking and team player as a must
