Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Current Opportunity: Employee Communications Executive – 12 Month FTC

Location: Based at Fort Dunlop – this location sits on the eastern edge of Birmingham, adjacent to the M6 motorway, providing excellent transport links into the city and across the region. Fort Dunlop serves as a key hub within IPT Area North, supporting operations that span multiple sublots and regional activities. Its strategic position makes it an important point for coordination and access, with proximity to major infrastructure routes ensuring connectivity to both the Central Region and wider project areas.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging internal communications and campaigns — including newsletters, line‑manager content, intranet updates, and digital screens — ensuring quality, timely delivery, and appropriate sign‑off.
  • Work closely with the Employee Communications Manager, wider Communications team, and internal stakeholders to plan, produce, and maintain a strong pipeline of relevant content.
  • Manage key communication channels and tools such as SharePoint, Poppulo Harmony, distribution lists, and audience data to enable effective targeting and measurement.
  • Produce quarterly performance reports, support internal events and conferences, and coordinate collateral (images, videos, materials) with the Marketing & Communications team.
  • Support crisis and incident communications when required, including occasional out‑of‑hours cover, and collaborate effectively with external suppliers to deliver communication activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; confident stakeholder management.
  • Highly adaptable team player able to work across multiple locations and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Self‑starter with strong organisational skills, able to manage conflicting deadlines; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Holds a clean driving licence and willing to travel.
