Are you looking to progress your career by working on Britain’s biggest construction project? Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain’s new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join us - we’re at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Certification Engineer within the Quality Function. This role will be based on site in Birmingham & Coventry.
Role Responsibilities- Demonstrate BBV behaviours and comply with the BBV IMS.
- Implement and maintain the Technical Assurance Plan (TAP) and Plan for Completion, which govern how BBV plans, manages, and discharges its assurance obligations and transfers constructed assets to HS2 in compliance with all HS2 works information, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Monitor and communicate changes to requirements.
- Support management in delivering technical assurance and handover from completion of detailed design through to handover packages at each phase of works completion, ensuring full records traceability and availability.
- Report to the Certification Manager and coordinate with Certification Engineers and BBV departments involved in the assurance process.
- Maintain the BC technical approval workflow; prepare and maintain Certification trackers; establish monitoring and measuring to ensure packages are produced progressively; prepare and maintain Single Assurance Pack Checklists; coordinate preparation of CSRs and VVMs; prepare and review L3 Certificate Package Listings; ensure all SAPs are uploaded to EDMS and follow the defined technical approval workflow; ensure comments sheets are answered and closed, and ensure only the last revision of documents is available.
- Ensure closure of the work site completion handover.
- At least 5 years of experience in the management of QMS on major projects in the construction industry, UK experience a plus.
- Experience of Technical Assurance (compliance requirements), Handover Packages and Certification.
- Ability to balance high quality standards with practical site implementation.
- Strong information management and analytical skills, able to extract relevant and pertinent points quickly and efficiently from large volumes of project information.
- Experienced in the use of project information tools and management systems, including MS Office and web-based collaboration technologies such as IBM Doors.
- Commitment to safety (CSCS card, SMSTS, or similar).

About Balfour Beatty VINCI: Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long‑established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI’s role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites: 9.3km of viaducts, 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels, 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses.
