Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Location

Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S.

More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region.

This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel.

It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).

  • Supporting the procurement and estimating teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements.
  • Carrying out supplier evaluations and commercial checks for suppliers and past performance
  • Support the development of procurement plans and packaging strategies
  • Assist in the development of efficient value added reports
  • Assist in the development of an efficient BBV Procurement process utilising the best practice tools, systems and approaches available within the Parent Companies.
  • Develop the BBV supplier database linked to Compete For – Include market assessments; track effectiveness of engagement; prequalification status; and bid support performance.
  • Work with the Parent Company Procurement teams to track and report on key commodities and markets – develop BBV Capacity and Demand planning tool to identify risk areas which could affect rates and availability.
  • Develop Project Wide Framework supply agreements – from initial engagement strategy through pricing, selection, negotiation and recommendations – liaising closely with Parent Company Procurement team to benefit from existing best practise approaches.
  • Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency
  • Assist in the development of performance led, long term supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage for BBV and HS2.
  • Assist in the development of local, diverse and SME engagement strategies assist in hosting Meet the Buyer Events and community advertising.
  • Lead the development of the Local Sustainable Procurement Plan through liaison with Parent Company experts.
