Birmingham – Base salary: £54,878 pa to £64,562 pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top of the base salary and is fully pensionable.

The Enterprise Architect role is responsible for developing, designing, implementing, and governing HS2’s Enterprise Architecture to ensure technology’s alignment with business objectives.
About the Role
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide architecture principles, policies, patterns, processes, and guardrails to embed the strategic application of change across HS2, ensuring compliance with business strategies, transformation activities and technology directions.
- Create and review an enterprise capability strategy to support HS2’s strategic requirements.
- Define and support the continued maturity of agile Enterprise Architecture frameworks and influence the development and implementation of strategic domain architectures (Data, Security, Network, Integration, etc.).
- Capture and prioritise market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives, to ensure alignment with HS2’s technology strategy and roadmap.
- Develop architectural artefacts in line with strategy, policy and standards.
- Support the translation of business drivers, goals and constraints into business objectives.
- Uphold and enforce architecture guardrails across solution and system design and across the different architecture domains (network, service, data, etc.).
- Contribute expertise and ideas to the technology innovation agenda.
- Support Business Analysts in capturing requirements.
- Support delivery of IT change across the business by providing direction and support to Delivery Managers.
- Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all work and support compliance with organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About You
- Enterprise and business architecture experience.
- Ability to support the translation of business drivers, goals and constraints into business objectives and work independently to define required capabilities that meet business objectives.
- Governance and assurance experience.
- Ability to understand technical governance and participate in the assurance of a service.
- Problem definition and shaping experience.
- Ability to show awareness of the strategic context of the work and its importance and support strategic planning.
- Experience in agile working.
- Ability to coach and lead teams in Agile and Lean practices.
- Stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels and manage stakeholder expectations.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of agile methods and their implications for Enterprise Architecture.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and best practices such as TOGAF or Zachman Framework.
- Knowledge of architecture principles, patterns, and application within an organisation.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to enterprise architecture, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data and other disruptive technologies.
- Knowledge of different delivery models including Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid methodologies.
- Knowledge of the industry, business model, processes and functional areas.
Type of Experience
- Experience supporting the design and implementation of IT services and architectural building blocks.
- Experience supporting design for complex solutions including risks and remedies.
- Experience supporting high-level designs for major solutions, managing design requirements and maintaining an audit trail for a design control process.
- Experience successfully applying Enterprise Architecture methods and approaches to complex scenarios.
- Experience using Enterprise Architecture tooling, integration or notation.
- Experience across the full project lifecycle from initiation to decommissioning.
- Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with Business and Technology partners.
- Experience working in a multi-vendor environment.
