Location: BBV IPT – Birmingham with a high presence required on site.
Salary: £46,406 to £54,595 per annum depending on skills and experience. We also offer a 20% flexible benefits fund on top of base salary, fully pensionable, and a range of competitive benefits – see our website for details.

As a Construction Assurance Manager (CAM) at HS2 you will support the Senior Construction Assurance Manager, providing specialist constructability support to the HS2 NEC3 Project Manager. You will undertake a risk‑based approach to assurance of constructability, maintain health and safety standards, and support delivery outcomes such as quality, environmental impact, Undertakings and Assurance (U&A) obligations.
You will work closely with HS2 Project Managers, the HS2 QHSSE Compliance Manager, the Stakeholder and Interfaces Manager and Integrated Project Team (IPT) in undertaking their roles. It is essential you hold a full clean driving licence.
About The Role
- Support the Senior Construction Assurance Manager in undertaking Constructability Assurance, taking a risk‑based approach.
- Provide specialist advice to HS2 Project Managers at all construction stages to administer the contract.
- Coordinate and undertake safety tours and other site‑based HS2 safety practices.
- Support the NEC3 Supervisor in discharging duties under the contract.
- Support the NEC3 Project Manager in discharging duties under the contract.
- Assist functional teams in ensuring works meet U&A’s, Environmental Minimum Requirements and Code of Construction Practice.
- Manage cross‑contract interfaces related to constructability.
- Assist with the HS2 CDM Assurance Process to enable release of the Hold Point Release Letter.
Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all work and support organisational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.

- Problem Solving: identify problems, review information, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions while managing and planning workstreams amid competing stakeholder, cost, time, and quality demands.
- Decision Quality: gather and synthesize information, identify options, and apply sound judgement to propose options to the CAM or Senior Project Manager using key facts and data.
- Building Relationships: establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to resolve emergent risk situations.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of NEC3 Contract and Supervisor responsibilities, general management principles, and operation of matrix organisations.
- Knowledge of UK construction regulations including Construction Design Management (CDM) and Construction Safety Management requirements.
- Knowledge and experience of site‑based processes and procedures for health, safety, and environmental management.
- Understanding of risk identification and management.
- Understanding of construction planning and ability to follow and monitor progress against a project programme.
- Degree level qualification in civil engineering, construction or building science, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Construction experience on large‑scale civil engineering projects, including earthworks, bridges and structures construction, and ground engineering.
