Key Responsibilities of the Night Manager:

  • Oversee all hotel operations during the night shift, ensuring full compliance with brand standards.
  • Serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) and primary decision-maker for operational issues.
  • Monitor lobby, Front Desk, Housekeeping, Security, F&B outlets, and engineering activity to ensure smooth overnight operations.
  • Ensure accurate night audit procedures are completed.
  • Conduct regular property walks to ensure cleanliness, safety, guest satisfaction, and brand presentation.
  • Handle escalated guest issues, complaints, and service recovery.
  • Welcome late arrivals and manage early departures, ensuring seamless check-in/out processes.
  • Assist guests with requests during nighttime operations.
  • Act as the Emergency Response Leader during the night shift.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures, including fire alarms, evacuation protocols, and incident reporting.
  • Handle emergencies, disturbances, or incidents.
  • Ensure all access points and back-of-house doors are secured.
  • Verify and support completion of Night Audit and financial reconciliations.
  • Assist with room rate checks, billing accuracy, and revenue controls.
  • Review daily reports (occupancy, arrivals, departures, no-shows, overbookings).
  • Ensure compliance with cash handling and credit policies.
  • Supervise night shift team members (Front Office, Housekeeping).
  • Provide coaching, support, and guidance to team members on duty.
  • Ensure shift handover documents are completed and communicated effectively to morning leadership.
  • Encourage a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and guest-focused service.
  • Be an ambassador for sustainability and engage with the local community.

About You:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Night Manager in a hotel.
  • Experience handling guest complaints, service recovery, and operational emergencies.
  • Strong knowledge of Front Office operations, PMS systems (e.g., Opera), POS systems, and night audit procedures.
  • Understanding of housekeeping processes, security protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Basic financial understanding: revenue management principles, billing, and daily reconciliation.
  • Professional appearance and positive, approachable personality.
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies.
  • Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
