We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead operations within a high-volume die cast manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production, leading union-represented teams, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are consistently achieved across multiple machines and shifts.
This is a fast-paced, high-visibility position where priorities can shift quickly. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can keep operations running smoothly, troubleshoot issues in real time, and drive performance in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily operations for approximately 20+ hourly employees, including team leaders and union personnel.
- Oversee production across 20+ die cast machines, ensuring optimal uptime, quality, and efficiency.
- Lead shift start-up activities, including pass-down meetings, staffing assignments, and safety briefings.
- Monitor production throughout the shift and adjust labor and priorities to meet demand.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production, quality, and equipment issues in real time.
- Collaborate with engineering, tooling, maintenance, and skilled trades to address technical challenges.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process and quality issues.
- Manage employee performance, including coaching, discipline, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain accurate shift documentation, including production reports, audits, and end-of-shift summaries.
- Utilize systems such as Kronos and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) for workforce management and reporting.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Proven ability to solve problems and make decisions in a production environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience supervising hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience in die casting or similar heavy manufacturing processes.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Technical background with exposure to manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Experience overseeing melting operations or similar upstream processes.
- Must be flexible to work all three shifts.
- Current schedule follows a 12-hour rotating shift: 2 days on / 2 days off, 3 days on / 3 days off (bi-weekly rotation).
- Shift Times:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (6:30 AM start for handoff).
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
- Contract Length: 12-month contract with strong potential for extension or direct hire.
- Pay Rate: $40 to $41/hour.
- Benefits: PTO included; optional benefits available.
- Location: Bedford, IN.
- Must-have: Prior experience in die casting or a closely related heavy manufacturing environment.
- Highly preferred: Experience working in a union environment.
