Our client is a leading Record Label based in London, we are seeking an experienced Business Affairs Associate to join the team. We’re looking for someone with the enthusiasm, passion and a can-do attitude. Candidates must have a legal background (Qualified Solicitor), be comfortable working on a wide variety of music-related agreements and have experience in drafting and closing recording and publishing agreements. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The position of Business Affairs Associate includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and manage a large volume of a variety of agreements for example, recording agreements, music publishing agreements, producer agreements, side artist agreements, sample license agreements, video production agreements, label waivers, independent contractor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Effectively manage relationships with artists, artist management teams and attorneys on a worldwide basis.
  • Advise senior executives, A&R, finance, licensing, product management and marketing teams regarding contractual obligations and restrictions.
  • Counsel internal departments and senior management on day-to-day business and legal issues and strategies.
  • Balance, prioritise and coordinate a high volume of diverse and time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment.

NUMBER OF YEARS PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified to practice as a Solicitor in the UK or equivalent by experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience ideally in a record label, publishing company or related law practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills required.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Self-motivated to work independently, with team support, to close business deals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to completing tasks and objectives.
  • Flexibility to work long and unpredictable hours as necessary.
  • A team player, and one who is open to feedback and on-going self-development.
