A globally active player in the flavourings, extracts, and essences market, specializing in high quality taste solutions for the food, beverage, and nutritional categories. The organisation operates with a significant global footprint, featuring multiple manufacturing and technical support facilities across several continents (including Europe, the Americas, and Asia).
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and direction to all plant personnel (including managers, supervisors, and operatives). Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, identify training needs, and develop team members. Be the visible on-site leader, setting the right example.
- Continuous Improvement (CI): Implement a structured CI program, fostering a culture of innovation to improve safety, quality, service, and cost.
- Health, Safety and Environment (HSE): Enforce safety protocols to maintain compliance and a culture of safety. Work with the HSE Manager to minimize risk and ensure adherence to policy. Implement measures for good housekeeping to reduce the use of natural resources and emissions.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure strict adherence to Quality Assurance procedures and that a culture of 'quality first' prevails. Ensure all products meet required safety and quality standards, safely and on time. Serve as a member of the HACCP team.
- Maintenance and Facilities: Ensure optimal performance and availability of production equipment through preventive maintenance programs. Manage the upkeep, security, and cleanliness of the premises, ensuring all facilities comply with relevant legislation.
- Cost Management: Manage plant budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, control expenses, and negotiate favourable terms with suppliers/vendors. Analyze production processes to implement cost-effective solutions.
- Capital Expenditure (Capex): Prepare a multi-year investment plan to support growth, efficiency, and sustainability. Drive the process for well-substantiated investment proposals, project manage approved investments and ensure smooth execution and handover.
Experience
The ideal candidate possesses a mix of technical expertise, proven leadership ability, and strong interpersonal skills. You will be degree qualified in Food Science, Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in the Food & Beverages sector. Demonstrated leadership skills and a strong track record of developing others and achieving results. Experience with implementing Continuous Improvement programs. Effective communicator with keen attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to deal with complexity and change, prioritise effectively, and deliver results under pressure.
