HRLife are working with a growing business to find them a highly numerate, data-driven, curious Payroll Lead who is excited by streamlining processes, enhancing processes and delivering an excellent payroll service. You will be working in a small team and will be supporting the timely and accurate delivery of all payroll services for the business. You will be managing 'everything payroll' - inputting all changes, building the internal profile, streamlining ways of working and answering queries to provide a first class payroll offering.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for processing monthly, weekly and hourly payroll for a large workforce
- Work with HR to resolve issues related to contracts, terms, or pay adjustments
- Managing the pension calculations and timely submission of contributions
- Reviewing the reconciliation of pension records against payroll each month to ensure discrepancies are resolved
- Responsible for strategic projects, system updates, and business-wide initiatives
- Act as the main link between Payroll, HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure smooth payroll processes
- Managing a small payroll team
- Provide advice and guidance to managers on payroll-related matters, including statutory requirements and policies
- Prepare accurate payroll reports and KPI’s and ensure all statutory reporting obligations (e.g. HMRC returns, pension submissions) are met
- Ensure payroll data for audits, management reports, and compliance reviews is provided as required
You'll have:
- Previous Payroll experience
- Team Management experience
- In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC compliance and pension administration
- Experience administering pension schemes
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex queries
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical payroll issues to non-specialists
This is a hybrid role - 3 days in the office and 2 days at home. Salary £45-50k.
