HRLife are working with a people driven business as they undergo a period of change to find them a pro-active, inquisitive Payroll Manager who is excited by streamlining processes, is comfortable challenging the norm and is a great relationship builder.

You will be responsible for the effective delivery of all payroll services across a complex business.

This is a broad Payroll opportunity and you'll be involved with managing various payrolls, overseeing pension schemes and acting as the escalation point for complex queries - building the internal profile, streamlining ways of working and providing a first class payroll offering.

Key Responsibilities will include;

  • Managing the payroll team, ensuring they're working effectively and meeting deadlines
  • Resolving complex queries relating to pay, deductions, pensions, and compliance
  • Responsible for processing monthly and hourly payroll for a large workforce
  • Work with HR to resolve issues related to contracts, terms, or pay adjustments
  • Responsible for managing the pension calculations and timely submission of contributions
  • Reviewing the reconciliation of pension records against payroll each month to ensure discrepancies are resolved
  • Responsible for strategic projects, system updates, and business-wide initiatives
  • Be the lead on all design, testing, and implementation of new processes or systems to improve payroll efficiency
  • Act as the main link between Payroll, HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure smooth payroll processes
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on payroll-related matters, including statutory requirements and policies
  • Prepare accurate payroll reports and KPI’s and ensure all statutory reporting obligations (e. g. HMRC returns, pension submissions) are met
  • Ensure payroll data for audits, management reports, and compliance reviews is provided as required
  • You'll have;
  • Strong experience managing payroll in a large, complex organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC compliance, and pension administration.
  • Experience administering private pension schemes.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Experience payroll process improvements and change management
  • Proficiency in i-Trent and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex queries.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical payroll issues to non-specialists.

This is a hybrid role - 3 days a week in the office and 2 at home.

Salary to 75k plus car allowance
