About CELtek
CELtek is a control management system (CMS) that allows end users to control and monitor their street lighting and traffic sign assets. It combines electrical hardware (feeder pillars, isolators, control gear) with smart software to help local authorities, contractors and highways operators manage their lighting networks more efficiently.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a CELtek Field Systems Engineer to take ownership of on-site project delivery, system commissioning, local training and ongoing technical support for CELtek systems across the UK. You will work from home, with extensive travel to customer sites and occasional visits to our clients' Head office in Wincanton. We are not looking for a salesman, necessarily, but we do need someone who can manage and develop customer relationships and who has strong commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Support achievement of sales targets for CELtek and related products (CEV & SLA).
- Develop and support existing CELtek customers and systems; help open up new customers/markets.
- Commission and support CELtek systems on site, ensuring smooth technical and operational performance.
- Deliver toolbox talks, system training and technical seminars to customers and internal teams.
- Conduct site surveys and produce clear installation and technical reports.
- Provide technical back-up, including updates from Datek, to customers, contractors and specifiers.
- Keep accurate records of visits and provide regular activity/sales-support reports.
- Liaise with colleagues, contractors and specifiers to deliver CELtek system support.
- Represent the company at ILP/HEMSA and other relevant industry events and exhibitions.
- Contribute to business planning and sales strategy activities with the National Sales Manager.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Organised, presentable and self-motivated, with enthusiasm for a long-term role with CEL.
- Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to operate and support a Control Management System (CMS) with end users.
- Competent computer skills, including MS Office (spreadsheets, presentations, etc.).
- Experience working with electrical circuit drawings and schematics.
- Able to manage and develop customer relationships and recognise/commercially assess opportunities.
- Prepared to travel extensively across the UK, with occasional overnight stays.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
Electrical Qualifications – Strongly Preferred
- Electrical qualification such as the 18th Edition (BS 7671) and/or HNC or higher in an electrical discipline.
- Strong practical understanding of electrical installations, feeder pillars, isolators and wiring systems.
- Confident diagnosing and resolving electrical/technical issues during site visits.
Desirable
- G39 certificate and CSCS card for site work.
- Experience using GIS mapping tools/apps and CRM systems.
- Experience managing customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.
- Previous experience in a similar field-based technical role with a proven track record.
- Project management experience and delivering technical training/seminars (internal and external).
- Experience with tenders in Local Authorities, National Highways or similar.
- Background in street lighting and/or electrical markets, and knowledge of CMS and highways/street lighting management.
Package & Benefits
- Salary: £45,000–£50,000 depending on experience (higher possible for the ideal candidate).
- Company car.
- Company pension: 7.5%.
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays.
- Life insurance.
- Sick pay.
- Company events.
- Free flu jabs.
- Free parking (where applicable).
- Work-from-home with extensive UK travel.
Ideal Candidate Location
You can be based anywhere in the UK. However, being located in or near the Midlands, South Wales or around the M25 would be advantageous, as our largest systems are in these areas. But regular visits to Wincanton a week will be needed.
