Are you passionate about creating healthier communities and making a difference for children and young people?
Horsham Rural City Council is seeking a motivated and collaborative VicHealth Partners in Place Project Officer to help deliver an exciting place-based health and wellbeing initiative across our community.
Working as part of Council's Strengthened Communities team, you will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the VicHeath Partners in Place project, working alongside young people, community, Council teams and a diverse range of local partners.
The project has a focus on improving access to healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food for children and young people aged 0-25, while looking beyond individual behaviour to the local environments, systems and conditions that influence healthy food access and choice.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate project activities, partnerships, timelines, monitoring and reporting.
- Plan and facilitate meaningful community engagement and co-design with children, young people, families and community.
- Build strong relationships with community organisations, health, education, research and other project partners.
- Support community-led ideas and practical place-based initiatives.
- Help translate research, evidence and community knowledge into action and identify opportunities for longer term systems change.
- Support monitoring, evaluation and shared learning across the project.

Skills And Experiences
About you
You will be a strong communicator and relationship builder who enjoys working collaboratively with community and partner organisations. You will bring experience in areas such as community development, health promotion, community engagement, social inclusion and/or place-based project delivery, together with strong project coordination and organisational skills.
A relevant tertiary qualification in community development, health promotion, public health, social sciences, project management or a health-related discipline, together with relevant experience, is required. Experience engaging with children and young people will be highly regarded.
A unique research opportunity
There is also an opportunity for applicants to express an interest in a funded Masters (Public Health) research opportunity connected to the project through our research partner, Federation University Future Regions Research Centre (Horsham Research Hub).
The research opportunity would support monitoring and evaluation of project activities. Participation in the Masters program is entirely optional and is not a requirement of the Project Officer role. Applicants interested in combining the Project Officer position with the Masters research opportunity are encouraged to indicate this in their application.
