An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a project delivery team within the construction and civil engineering sector. The role provides hands-on health, safety and environmental support to ensure work is delivered safely, compliantly and in line with best practice. Working closely with the project team and reporting to the Project Health & Safety Manager, you will support the implementation and ongoing management of the ISO 45001 Safety Management System, promote a positive safety culture and engage directly with the workforce to drive continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a Health & Safety professional with a construction or civil engineering background who is confident working in a site-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Health & Safety Manager in the delivery of health & safety compliance across site operations.
  • Provide day-to-day health & safety advice and guidance to site management and operational teams.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement with the workforce and client representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations and client standards.
  • Conduct daily and weekly site inspections and audits.
  • Coordinate and review safety documentation, including method statements and risk assessments.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings on health, safety and wellbeing topics.
  • Chair and attend safety meetings.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, sharing lessons learned.
  • Support health and wellbeing initiatives and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the project ISO 45001 Safety Management System.

Experience & Skills required:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within construction or civil engineering.
  • NEBOSH and valid CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Passionate about health & safety with a commitment to high standards.
  • Confident, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Team player able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • IOSH, IIRSM or other professional membership.
  • Experience working within ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 systems.
