We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join a busy quality team in a fast-paced food production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to take ownership of quality control and assurance processes for chilled products. This position is ideal for someone looking to lead a team, drive continuous improvement, and play a key role in upholding food safety and quality standards during backshift operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of quality control activities across the chilled product range throughout the backshift.
  • Build and maintain robust quality assurance procedures that meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Guide and coach the quality team, offering hands-on training and ongoing support.
  • Carry out inspections, audits, and quality checks to spot opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with production and supply chain colleagues to resolve quality concerns and boost process performance.
  • Review quality metrics and data trends, presenting findings and improvement recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Keep stakeholders clearly informed on quality standards and compliance matters.

Requirements

  • Confident leadership style, with the ability to guide and inspire a team toward shared goals.
  • Comfortable working with data, drawing out insights and translating them into clear reports.
  • Strong people skills, able to communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels.
  • Flexible approach to backshift working, with a proactive attitude to resolving issues as they arise.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Background in quality management within a food manufacturing setting, ideally with chilled/fresh product lines.
  • Solid grasp of quality assurance fundamentals, food safety legislation, and relevant industry benchmarks.
  • Track record of running audits and putting quality control measures into practice.
  • Comfortable using quality management systems and standard Microsoft Office tools.
  • HACCP qualification and familiarity with BRC standards would be an advantage.
