A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join their team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing site capital projects, leading a team of Project Engineers, and ensuring engineering solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing project delivery, and driving continuous improvement across engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Project Engineering team, providing technical leadership, coaching, and support
  • Manage engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate activities across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Monitor project costs, manage scope changes, and maintain effective budget and schedule control
  • Oversee engineering design activities, ensuring solutions meet safety, compliance, and operational requirements
  • Manage engineering changes through formal change control processes
  • Act as a key interface between engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful delivery
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Manage contractor performance to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project execution
  • Support post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant industry experience
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects within a complex or regulated environment
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop engineering teams
  • Broad knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering practices and standards
  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and risks
  • Experience with design reviews, engineering change processes, and technical governance
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and risk management principles
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and influence across all levels of an organisation
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Desirable experience:
  • Recognised project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
  • Experience in safety-critical or highly regulated industries
  • HAZOP knowledge or process safety experience
  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Contractor management experience
