We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plumbing Lecturer / Apprenticeship Mentor to join our growing team and support the development of the next generation of plumbing and mechanical engineers. Based in Bedfordshire and surrounding areas, this role is focused on delivering practical, hands‑on training to apprentices within a real‑life construction site environment. The successful candidate will combine industry expertise with strong teaching and mentoring abilities to help learners develop confidence, technical competence, and professional standards on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging practical training in Plumbing, Heating, and Gas.
  • Support apprentices in developing skills within live construction site environments.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and pastoral support to young learners and apprentices.
  • Prepare demonstrations and training material aligned with industry standards.
  • Assess apprentice performance and provide constructive feedback to support progression and achievement.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of training delivery.
  • Maintain accurate learner progress records and attendance documentation.
  • Liaise with site teams and management to support apprentice development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised qualifications in Plumbing and Heating.
  • Gas Safe qualifications and current industry experience.
  • Valid CSCS Card required to access construction sites.
  • Experience working with apprentices, young people, or within an educational/training environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of new build plumbing and heating systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and supportive hands‑on training.
  • Knowledge and experience of renewable technologies, including Air Source Heat Pumps.
  • Understanding of MCS standards and renewable energy systems.
  • Previous lecturing, assessing, or vocational teaching experience.
  • Teaching or assessor qualifications (or willingness to work towards them).
  • Experience using digital learning platforms and IT systems.
