Location: Field Based – Horsham, West Sussex area
We are looking for an experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer / Estimator to join our team. This role would suit someone with previous experience as a Heating Engineer, Plumbing & Heating Engineer, Gas Engineer, Estimator, Heating Surveyor or Plumbing Estimator, with experience in domestic heating, plumbing, maintenance or property services.
Enjoy the independence of running your own local patch, with full support from our central HQ admin team.
Salary & Earning Potential: This is a highly commission-driven role offering significant earning potential. The commission structure is uncapped, with expected on-target earnings of approximately £55,000 - £60,000 per annum. The Company will ensure that total pay meets at least the applicable National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage requirements for hours worked in each relevant pay reference period.

We are looking for a technically experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer / Estimator who can survey work, understand customer requirements and develop practical, commercially sensible solutions. You will assess jobs, calculate labour and materials, prepare accurate estimates and provide customers with clear recommendations, while also identifying opportunities to develop additional work and ongoing service relationships.
Job Role:
- Survey plumbing and heating projects and assess the work required.
- Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Prepare accurate and commercially sensible estimates and quotations.
- Calculate labour requirements, job durations, materials and equipment needed.
- Carry out plumbing and heating installation work as required.
- Undertake servicing, maintenance and repair work for customers.
- Develop clear scopes of work for larger projects.
- Work with suppliers and Head Office to establish accurate material costs.
- Present customers with clear recommendations and, where appropriate, different options to meet their needs.
- Identify additional work and opportunities while attending existing customers.
- Help convert repair and breakdown customers into longer-term service and maintenance customers.
- Identify opportunities to introduce customers to the company's wider range of services.
About you:
- NVQ Level 3 in Gas, CCN1 & CENWAT COCN1 and F-Gas would be an advantage but not essential
- Experience of repair and servicing of boilers and heating systems
- Strong practical knowledge of domestic plumbing and heating systems
- Experience surveying, estimating or quoting for plumbing and heating work
- Commercially aware with a good understanding of labour, materials and job costs
- Able to assess a job, identify the best solution and explain it clearly to customers
- Customer-focused with excellent communication skills
- Able to identify additional sales opportunities
- Organised, accurate and confident managing multiple quotations and projects
- A practical problem-solver with a professional and trustworthy approach
