Role overview
We are seeking an experienced Metrology Inspector to join a precision manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring product quality and dimensional conformity through accurate measurement and inspection processes in line with ISO 9001 standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform first-off, in-process and final inspections using manual inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, surface plates, etc.)
- Conduct dimensional verification of fineline sheet metal components and assemblies
- Use CMM equipment where required (CMM experience beneficial)
- Interpret technical drawings and apply GD&T principles to assess conformance to specifications
- Produce clear inspection reports, records and certificates of conformity
- Identify and document non-conformances, raise corrective actions and support root-cause investigations
- Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained, and support internal calibration schedules
- Work closely with production, engineering and quality teams to support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 procedures
Skills and experience required
- Minimum 5+ years' experience working in an ISO 9001 manufacturing or precision engineering environment
- Proven experience with fineline sheet metal inspection
- Proficient with manual inspection tools and measurement techniques
- CMM experience is beneficial
- Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and applying GD&T
- Strong attention to detail, excellent record-keeping and good communication skills
- Ability to work methodically under time constraints and support multiple inspection priorities
