Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:30
Position Overview: As the Health & Safety Officer, you will be the pivotal resource for maintaining and enhancing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards at our Southport site, along with supporting other local sites. Your expertise and proactive approach will contribute to fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Continuously monitor industry regulatory standards and best practices to ensure all operations align with applicable local and national laws and guidelines.
- Safety Development: Design and implement safety protocols and develop comprehensive health and environmental safety communications and educational materials.
- Communication of Learning: Effectively communicate lessons learned from incidents across the site to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Inspection Coordination: Oversee on-site safety inspections, addressing any deficiencies promptly and ensuring regulatory agency inspections are coordinated with minimal disruptions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate logs and documentation associated with permits, regulatory requirements, and report on site metrics and EHS KPIs.
- Filing Systems: Establish and maintain an organised filing system for EHS policies, programs, and training records.
- Policy Reinforcement: Actively promote safe working practices and reinforce adherence to EHS policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Advisory Role: Provide expert advice and support for the effective implementation of EHS policies and programs throughout the organisation.
- Training and Guidance: Offer training and guidance to staff to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to EHS across all levels of the workforce.
- Support Certifications: Assist in maintaining relevant ISO certifications and other accreditation processes.
- Environmental Responsibility: Manage waste processes as part of the environmental responsibilities, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Proficient in documentation, reporting, and administrative tasks related to health and safety.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
