Project Engineer
Location : Folkestone
Hours : 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Role
We are recruiting for a Project Engineer to support capital investment and site‑based engineering projects within a manufacturing environment. This role will suit a Project Manager with a strong engineering background, or a Project Manager who has built their career within an engineering‑led setting. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will support the delivery of projects across UK sites and occasionally European locations, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering Manager with the oversight and execution of capital investment projects.
- Collaborate closely on project integration, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and timelines are achieved.
- Partner with the Facilities team to establish and monitor KPI systems to measure performance and activity.
- Maintain, develop, and control the site CAD drawings archive, ensuring all documentation reflects current site conditions.
- Act as a key contributor to defining and improving factory and site project protocols.
- Liaise with multiple departments to understand and deliver capital enhancement requirements. Duties
- Undertake tasks as directed by the Projects and Facilities Engineering teams, building capability within a manufacturing engineering environment.
- Lead the Project Gates Monthly Meeting, acting as a central communication point between project teams and the wider business.
- Own and manage project change control, becoming the subject‑matter expert within the department.
- Prepare and deliver project communications, reporting, and KPI monitoring.
- Apply effective troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques.
- Ensure project spend remains within approved budgets.
- Communicate key project updates clearly to management and the wider workforce.
- Update site drawings and documentation to reflect engineering or layout changes.
- Complete and hand over full Project Turnover Packages.
Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years\’ experience as a Project Manager working within an engineering environment.
- Background in manufacturing or fabrication (FMCG, industrial manufacturing, or similar) is highly desirable; however, candidates with a strong engineering background supporting project management will also be considered.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- PRINCE2 qualification desirable.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- High level of IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with AutoCAD or technical drawings is advantageous; training can be provided if required.
- Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions‑focused.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving project environment.
