Position: Plant Engineer Electrical Bias

Location: Holywell

Hours: Days Monday-Friday

Role Overview

We\’re seeking a technically strong and hands‑on Plant Engineer to lead electrical and automation maintenance, develop preventative strategies, and support production, quality, safety, and control initiatives. You\’ll oversee a team of technicians, manage CMMS tasks, and drive continuous improvement and compliance.

Key Responsibilities for the Plant Engineer

  • Lead and mentor engineering technicians; allocate daily maintenance tasks efficiently
  • Develop a training matrix to ensure team competency
  • Electrical & Automation Maintenance
  • Implement and oversee planned and preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and automated system faults
  • Work with Siemens S7/TIA, Profinet, HMI interfaces, and other automation tools
  • Technical Projects & CMMS Management
  • Manage shutdowns, capital projects, and process improvements
  • Capture maintenance data, feedback, and lessons learnt in Elecosoft CMMS
  • Partner with stores for spare parts and stock management
  • Process Improvement & KPI Reporting
  • Design systems for condition monitoring and root‑cause analysis
  • Generate KPIs to track downtime, response time, and maintenance efficiency
  • Compliance & Safety Assurance
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001, CE marking, and site safety policies
  • Provide clear engineering documentation and compliance updates
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Production, Quality, Safety, and Controls teams to align maintenance with operational needs
  • Participate in procurement, recruitment, and training initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Electrical/Automation Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years in high‑volume manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Proficiency with Siemens S7/TIA, Profinet, HMI, and PLC fault diagnostics
  • Experience with Elecosoft or similar CMMS
  • Strong project management and shutdown planning experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisation skills
  • Strong adherence to HSE and compliance standards
  • Desirable for the Plant Engineer role:
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Formal electrical installation certification
  • Exposure to cold rolling processes
  • Project/process improvement certifications (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, CPE)
