The Role: My client is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer who possesses a strong understanding and proven track record in maintaining machinery, services, and equipment. As a vital part of their operations, you will ensure that the equipment runs smoothly and safely.

Salary: £42,000 per annum, with overtime paid at 1.5x the standard rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preventative Maintenance: Identify and address maintenance needs proactively.
  • Maintenance Execution: Perform mechanical repairs, fittings, or modifications.
  • Contractor Engagement: Liaise with external contractors for quality and efficiency in maintenance tasks.
  • Improvement Projects: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives onsite.
  • Compliance and Safety: Collaborate as part of the health and safety team to maintain compliance and drive change.
  • Inventory and Procurement: Manage maintenance stock inventory, order spare parts, and source quotes for maintenance supplies.
  • Equipment Management: Conduct regular inspections and maintain check sheets.
  • Implementation: Drive the implementation of improvement standards and tools to enhance business operations.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a recognised operational qualification or an apprenticeship in Engineering - THIS IS NOT ESSENTIAL.
  • Has at least 5 years of experience in a multi-skilled mechanical engineering environment.
  • Possesses a recognised safety qualification with an understanding of health and safety principles - NOT ESSENTIAL.
  • Is highly flexible, adaptable, and committed to excellence.
  • Experienced in the implementation of industry standards for health and safety, planned preventive maintenance, and engineering record keeping.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong communication skills to convey business objectives and foster an engaged team culture.
  • Ability to interact effectively with suppliers and contractors.
  • Capable of discussing technical details as part of improvement projects while providing insights from a maintenance and engineering perspective.
  • Proficient in maintaining records for improvement projects and planned preventative maintenance.

Additional Skills (Ideal):

  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with lean/improvement methods, such as root cause analysis.
  • Exposure to PLC systems.
