Salary: £14.87 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week (3-week rota between 6:30am - 10:00pm)

Are you proactive, confident, and ready for a role where no two days are the same? We are looking for a motivated Civil Enforcement Officer to join the local Council's Civil Enforcement team. You'll play a key role in helping the Council meet its responsibilities under the Traffic Management Act 2004 - keeping traffic flowing, ensuring fair parking, and supporting the local community. This is an active, outdoor role where you'll patrol designated areas across Thanet, represent the Council professionally, and make a real difference every day.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Enforcing parking restrictions in line with legislation and local Traffic Regulation Orders
  • Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) where vehicles are parked in contravention
  • Collecting and recording clear evidence to support enforcement action
  • Carrying out daily checks of pay and display machines and reporting faults
  • Conducting weekly car park inspections
  • Reporting damaged signs, faded lines, or missing road markings
  • Providing helpful, professional support to members of the public
  • Working alongside CCTV, Streetscene Enforcement and local police to share intelligence
  • Managing abandoned vehicle reports from investigation through to removal
  • Supporting joint enforcement operations when required

What We're Looking For

  • Basic knowledge of the Highway Code and relevant traffic legislation
  • Good understanding of the Thanet area
  • Basic IT skills
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physically fit and able to carry out patrol duties
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous experience in enforcement or a similar role is desirable but not essential
